My Second Home
The leaves transform into their golden hue
While flocks of birds hover the sky for migration due
As the cooling wind refreshes my summer-tanned skin
The sun sets early, the bouncing days shorten.
The buoyant trees denude albeit winning the dropping chill
While confetti white flakes collect into wondrous arts on earth
Thick in coat, deep in thought, I hug myself bewildered still
This crystalline white dirt icily bites of a distant home birth.
At last the earthly worms dig up their haven to savor the scent of the air warming
I reward myself of the shy sprouts of greens, joyfully anticipating their full becoming
And as the frost tames, the stratospheric ice fall as rain
The wet earth beams, gathering richness as the greens deepen.
Now in full bloom nature stands proud despite frozen and thawed for the nth time
Grace for its no trace of bitter revenge, the nurturing sun stays 'til the dusk of nine
And like the migratory birds rejoicing in reclaiming their sanctuary
I soar in festive mood, loving the feel of this old familiarity.
